B59-462 TRANSIT. Queen & Co. All brass, 13" high, compass as 4-3/4" needle and marked "Queen & Co. Makers. Philada 6924". Queen introduced transit instruments of this form in the late 1880s, and kept them in production for about a decade. The serial number indicates that this example was made soon after the introduction of the Queen & Co. signature in 1896. The horizontal circle is graduated both clockwise and counterclockwise, and read by opposite verniers to one minute. The vertical arc covers 150 degrees, and is read by vernier to one minute. The telescope has stadia wires for distance determination, and a clamp and tangent screw to the axis. In its original case with plumb bob and sun screen. Fine 500-1000
